Harmonica recitalist Ho Kit-fun to perform at City Hall

Harmonica recitalist Ho Kit-fun will perform at the Hong Kong City Hall Theatre at 8pm on March 27 (Saturday).
With piano accompaniment by Hui Ling, the programme features virtuoso pieces transcribed for harmonica by Ho, including "Una Furtive Lagrima" (from L'Elisir d'Amore), "Torna a Surriento", "Sabre Dance", "Meditation" (from Thais), "The Swan" and "Carmen Fantasy". The programme will also include the great works, "Concerto for Harmonica" and "Romance for Harmonica".
Ho studied under the legendary Tommy Reilly and Fung On. He became well known in harmonica circles after winning first prize in chromatic duos in the third International Harmonica Competition 1966/67 in Germany with Yeung Yuet-bor. He continued to hone his skills, studying harmonica concertos in England.
Ho has given four recitals at Hong Kong City Hall and performed with local orchestras, including the Hong Kong Philharmonic, Hong Kong City Symphony Orchestra and Pan Asia Symphony Orchestra. He has also performed in local radio and television broadcasts, including recorded works by Williams, Chagrin, Milhaud and Spivakovsky for RTHK. One of his recent solo appearances was during the opening ceremony of the First Hong Kong Harmonica Festival 2003.
"Harmonica Recital by Ho Kit-fun" is one of the programmes in the City Hall Theatre Recital Series presented by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department.
Tickets priced at $120 and $80 are available at URBTIX outlets. Half-price tickets are available for senior citizens, people with disabilities, full-time students and Comprehensive Social Security Assistance recipients. A 10% discount applies to Friends of LCSD performing venues.
