600 dancers to perform in Silk Road epic
More than 600 dancers will perform in the dance, "The Golden Silk Road", at 8pm on March 19 and 20 (Friday and Saturday).
The two shows, presented by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department and directed by renowned local and mainland choreographers, will be held at the Auditorium of the Kwai Tsing Theatre.
The dancers, all members of the Association of Hong Kong Dance Organisations, will present the epic tale of a Tang poet travelling along the Silk Road. His journey is one of romance and adventure and eventually sees the poet become the patron saint of the Dunhuang treasures.
Founded in 1992, the Association of Hong Kong Dance Organisations, which is committed to promoting dance culture, has more than 8,000 members - both dancers and teachers. The association has, on several occasions, invited experts and scholars from various Mainland provinces to participate in its major programmes, seminars/workshops and training programmes for instructors and choreographers. It has previously presented dance performances such as "Fragrance - A Dance Poem on Hong Kong" and "Igniting Hearts: Legend of the Orient".
