Charity sale of donated books this Saturday and Sunday

The well-received annual "Sale of Donated Books" will be held on Saturday and Sunday (February 21 and 22) from 10am to 6pm at the Exhibition Gallery of the Hong Kong Central Library, the Main Arena of the Yuen Wo Road Sports Centre and the Atrium on 5/F of the Tsz Wan Shan Shopping Centre.

Over 200,000 adult and children's fiction and reference books in both English and Chinese will be put on sale at $5 each with the proceeds donated to the Community Chest of Hong Kong.

Crowd control measures may be implemented in the sales venues. In view of limited space in the Tsz Wan Shan Shopping Centre, admission tickets with six different time slots for February 21 and 22 will be available for distribution from 9.30am on those two days.

Members of the public are urged to bring their own bags and not to bring any books into the sales venues.

The Book Donation and Sale Campaign is jointly organised by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department, the Home Affairs Department, the Hong Kong Housing Authority, Hongkong Post, the Community Chest of Hong Kong and the Agency for Volunteer Service with the aim of promoting reading, book sharing and helping the needy.

For enquiries about the campaign, please call 2921 0221.

Ends/Thursday, February 19, 2004
