Applications invited for flower show photo competition
Photography enthusiasts are invited to enter the Pansy Fantasia Photo Competition, which is being held in conjunction with the Hong Kong Flower Show.
Prizes worth more than $50,000 will be awarded to the winners.
The competition is jointly organised by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD) and Television Broadcasts Limited (TVB) and sponsored by Nikon Hong Kong Limited.
The flower show, whose theme flower this year is the pansy, will take place from March 5 to 14 in Victoria Park, from 9am to 9pm daily.
The subjects of the competition are the exquisite flowers and rare plants on display at the show; interesting or touching scenes at the showground; and portraits of TVB artistes and Miss Hong Kong 2003 with garden displays as a background.
The competition is divided into three categories. Category A, "Portrait of TVB Artistes and Miss Hong Kong", comprising Open and School Sections, will hold its shooting session from 3.30pm to 4.30pm on March 4 in Victoria Park.
Entrants in this category must submit their applications to the Secretariat of the Hong Kong Flower Show, 11/F, Leisure and Cultural Services Headquarters, 1-3 Pai Tau Street, Sha Tin by February 14. Application fees are $30 for adults and $15 for students, senior citizens and people with disabilities.
It is not necessary to apply in advance for Category B, "Flowers", and Category C, "Snapshots". Photographs must be related to the 2004 Hong Kong Flower Show and be taken during the show period.
All entries must be submitted by mail or in person to the Secretariat of the Hong Kong Flower Show, 11/F, Leisure and Cultural Services Headquarters, 1-3 Pai Tau Street, Sha Tin by 5pm on April 8. Late submissions will not be accepted.
