Shenyang Acrobatic Troupe of China presents "Dragon Mirage"

The world-acclaimed Shenyang Acrobatic Troupe of China is expected to captivate audiences with a stunning new acrobatic performance, "Dragon Mirage", in January next year. Details of the performances are as follow:

The performances, part of the "Cheers! Series" presented by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department, start at 8pm.

"Dragon Mirage" focuses on the distinctive "Dragon Culture" of China - the metamorphosis of the celestial dragon and the continual striving for self-improvement.

The performance will showcase the troupe's innovative ideas of neo-classicism with breath-taking theatrical skill plus fantastic light and sound effects.

On the programme is Dragon Sword (sword play), Spirit of the Flowers (plate spinning), Magic Wind (jumping through the hoops), Duo Flyers (trapeze acts), Romance (fish net), Drifting (bowl balancing), Surprising Changes (conjuring show), A Flyers Spectacular (trapeze acts), Drills at Dawn from Shaolin (male pole-climbing), Sun Chasing (balancing on high chairs), Son of Dragon (grand martial art) and Taijifu (a show of strength).

Founded in 1951, Shenyang Acrobatic Troupe is one of the best of its kind in China. Having toured over 200 cities in more than 50 countries, the troupe has won gold medals and grand prizes in numerous major competitions in China and around the world. Recently in Paris, it won the French Republic President Award and the only Gold Award.

Tickets priced at $190, $140 and $90 are available at URBTIX outlets. Half-price tickets are offered to senior citizens, people with disabilities, full-time students and Comprehensive Social Security Assistance (CSSA) recipients (limited tickets for students and CSSA recipients available on a first-come, first-served basis).

For purchases of full-price tickets, the following discounts apply: 4-9 tickets, 10%; 10-19 tickets, 15%; 20 tickets or more, 20%. For purchases of Cheers! Series tickets, the following discounts apply: two different programmes, 10%; three different programmes, 15%; four or more different programmes, 20% (except the Workshops Series). A 10% discount is offered to Friends of LCSD performing venues.

Series" are: "Chinese Music for Families" by The Hong Kong YWCA Chinese Orchestra; "The Nutcracker" by the Hong Kong Ballet (sponsor programme); Hong Kong Oratorio Society Christmas Concert 2003 (sponsor programme); "The Snowman and The Bear" by the City Chamber Orchestra of Hong Kong; "The Star Keeper" by the Theatre de l'Oeil (Canada); "The Sound of Movies" by The China Film Philharmonic; and the Workshops Series.
