Seven Chinese ethnic troupes to perform from Jan to Mar 2004

The "Chinese Ethnic Music and Dance Series" will be held from January to March 2004.

Presented by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department, the series features seven Chinese minority troupes from Inner Mongolia, Yunnan, Xinjiang and Guizhou.

From their songs, dances, costumes and instruments, audiences will gain a more comprehensive understanding of the lifestyles and culture of these different minorities.

The performing schedule of the series is as follows:

Xinjiang Song and Dance Troupe
Jan 30-31 (8pm) Auditorium, Sha Tin Town Hall
Feb 1 (8pm) Auditorium, Tuen Mun Town Hall

Yunan Minority Nationality Instrumental Concert
Feb 15 (8pm) Auditorium, Yuen Long Theatre

"Under the Miao Mountains - Ethnic Dances of Guizhou" by
the Hong Kong Bauhinia Dance Association and
the Dance Department of the Arts College of Guizhou University
Feb 20 to 21 (8pm) Theatre, Ko Shan Theatre

Dongba Palace Folk Troupe, Lijiang, Yunnan

Dong Nationality Folksong Art Troupe of Guizhou

Tickets priced from $80 to $200 are available at URBTIX outlets. Half-price concessions apply to senior citizens, people with disabilities, full-time students and Comprehensive Social Security Assistance recipients, while Friends of LCSD performing venues receive a 10% discount.
