Tsuen Wan Town Hall's Open Day to be held tomorrow

Tsuen Wan Town Hall will host an Open Day tomorrow (November 16) from 3pm to 6pm, featuring entertainment and a chance to see the venue's stage technicians show off their backstage wizardry.

Members of the Tsuen Wan Culture & Arts Co-ordinating Association will perform famous excerpts from Cantonese opera and their instructor will talk about the history and development of the art form.

Four sets of opera costumes will be introduced and the stage technicians will demonstrate how they achieve their stage effects.

The Hong Kong Sky Bird Puppet Art Group will present string and glove puppetry and invite the public to join in the show.

Other attractions include dancing, painting, martial arts, handicraft stalls, game booths and a photo-taking corner.

The Chinese operatic characters parading around the venue will add extra colour to the event.

Tsuen Wan Town Hall, located at 72 Tai Ho Road, is administered by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department. It is primarily designed for drama, dance and opera, and its stage equipment is among the most advanced.

Besides the main auditorium, visitors will be shown the Cultural Activities Hall, the Exhibition Gallery, the Dance Studio, the Rehearsal Room and the Lecture Room.
