Fun for all at sand sculpture competition
*****************************************
About 100 people showed their creativity by joining in the sand sculpture competition held at Lido Beach in Tsuen Wan today (November 2).
The Tsuen Wan Sand Sculpture Competition and International Sand Sculpture Exchange Programme, organised by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department, was also fun for beachgoers.
Special guests, the Higashiichiki Town Sand Sculpture Team from Kagoshima, Japan, shared their sand sculpting skills with competitors and the public.
Twenty-two local teams took part in the competition, with 10 teams in the open category, six in the youth category, four in the family category and two in the disabled category.
Each team, comprising three to five members, was required to finish their sand sculptures in two hours within an area of 3 x 4.5 metres.
Their sculptures were judged according to skill, creativity, beauty and relevance to the theme as stated by the competing teams.
The winners of each category were "Happy Travelling" by "Storm" in the open category; "Shrimp Shrimp Shrimp" by "Tak Tak Team" in the youth category, "Embrace the Ocean" by "Lovely Baby" in the family category and "Caring Each Other While Growing Up" by "Work Together Team" in the disabled category. The overall championship of the competition went to "Happy Travelling" by "Storm".
Trophies were presented to the winning teams in a prize presentation ceremony held after the competition.
