Sixteen LCSD swimming pools to stay open in November

Sixteen of the Leisure and Cultural Services Department's (LCSD) swimming pools will stay open in November this year.

The following nine heated pools in the urban areas and in the New Territories will stay open until March next year with two breaks at noon and in the evening. The breaks for urban heated pools are from noon to 1pm; and 5pm to 6pm (except for Hammer Hill Road Swimming Pool where the breaks are from noon to 1pm, and from 5.30pm to 6.30pm), while those for New Territories heated pools are from noon to 1pm; and from 6pm to 7pm.

Another two heated pools in the urban areas will be closed for maintenance. Lai Chi Kok Park Swimming Pool will open until the end of December and will be closed from January 1, 2004 for maintenance. Its opening hours are from 6.30am to 6.30pm with one break from noon to 1pm. Morrison Hill Swimming Pool will open until the end of April, 2004. Its opening hours are from 6.30am to 10pm with two breaks from noon to 1pm; and from 5pm to 6pm. It will be closed for maintenance from May 1, 2004.

Five other non-heated swimming pools will continue to open until the end of November, including Victoria Park Swimming Pool, Pao Yue Kong Swimming Pool, Kennedy Town Swimming Pool, Kowloon Tsai Swimming Pool and Jordan Valley Swimming Pool. The opening hours are from 6.30am to 6.30pm with one break between noon and 1 pm. They will be closed from December 1 for annual maintenance.

However, Sham Shui Po Park Swimming Pool and Tuen Mun Swimming Pool will be closed for maintenance from November 1, 2003. Sham Shui Po Park Swimming Pool will re-open on January 1, 2004. Its opening hours are from 6.30am to 6.30pm with one break between noon and 1pm. The Tuen Mun Swimming Pool will also re-open on January 1, 2004. Its opening hours are from 6.30am to 9.30pm with two breaks from noon to 1pm; and from 6pm to 7pm.

Meanwhile, the remaining 17 of the department's public swimming pools will be closed from November 1 to March next year for maintenance.
