Stall operators sought for Arts Fun Fairs at Kowloon, Lai Chi Kok parks

The Leisure and Cultural Services Department invites individuals and subvented non-governmental organisations (NGOs) to submit applications to operate stalls during the fourth phase of the Arts Fun Fairs at Kowloon Park and Lai Chi Kok Park.

Under the fourth phase, the Arts Fun Fairs will be open from 1pm to 7pm on Sundays and public holidays from December 1, 2003 to May 31, 2004.

Applications open on October 20 (Monday) and close on November 3.

The third phase of the Arts Fun Fairs started in June and wraps up on November 30.

"Because the Arts Fun Fairs have been well received by both the park-goers and stall operators, the department has decided to launch a fourth phase immediately after the conclusion of the third," a spokesman for the department said.

The Arts Fun Fairs will have 50 stalls each at the loggias of Kowloon Park and Lai Chi Kok Park (Stage III) for the display and sale of recreational, art and cultural related souvenirs, pre-packed traditional snacks, and services such as painting, photography, calligraphy and sketching.

The Leisure and Cultural Services Department also currently operates Arts Corners at Hong Kong Park and Victoria Park.

In considering applications, the Arts Fun Fair Stalls Vetting Panel will strive to secure the best quality and widest variety of goods and services. If the number of qualified applicants exceeds the number of stalls available, results will be determined by drawing lots.

Each successful applicant is required to pay a registration fee of $100 and a deposit of $1,000. The deposit will be refunded upon completion of the contract period on condition that the operator's attendance is at least 70%. If not, the deposit will be forfeited.

Application forms are available at Kowloon Park Management Office, 1/F, 22 Austin Road, Tsim Sha Tsui, or Sham Shui Po District Leisure Services Office at 7/F, Un Chau Street Municipal Services Building, 59-63 Un Chau Street, Sham Shui Po, Kowloon.

Completed application forms should be submitted together with copies of any proof of professional knowledge and work or product samples to the aforementioned offices on or before 5pm on November 3.

For enquiries, please call 2724 3344 (Kowloon Park) or 2386 0945 (Lai Chi Kok Park).

Ends/Friday, October 17, 2003
