Know more about National Intercity Games
The Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD) has installed exhibition panels at its leisure venues to enhance the public's knowledge of the 5th National Intercity Games and of the participating Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) Delegation.
The 5th National Intercity Games will be held in Changsha, Hunan, from October 18 to October 27. Seventy-eight participating units from cities all over China will compete in 29 sports.
An LCSD spokesman said today (October 8): "In terms of scale and significance, the National Intercity Games come just after the National Games.
"However, since Hong Kong is participating in the National Intercity Games for the second time only, the public may not be familiar with them. We have therefore put up exhibition panels about the Games at popular leisure venues in every district."
The pictorial exhibition panel describes the purpose and activities of the four-yearly Games and carries encouraging remarks from the Secretary for Home Affairs, Dr Patrick Ho, and the Head of the HKSAR Delegation, Mr Timothy Fok.
"We hope that the public will share the hopes and joys of the Hong Kong athletes as they strive for success in the Games," the spokesman said.
Hong Kong is fielding 87 athletes to compete in 13 sports. Cyclist Mr Lam Kai-chun and windsurfer Miss Chan Wai-man have already won a gold and a bronze respectively at the men's individual 120 km road race and the Mistral Girl Class windsurfing competition, which were held in advance.
