Important works by ink painting masters on show at Heritage Museum

*********************************************************

Thirty Chinese ink paintings by great masters including Gao Qifeng, Zhang Daqian, Qi Baishi, Xu Beihong, Deng Feng, Huang Shaoqiang and Yang Shanshen are on display at the Hong Kong Heritage Museum until March 22, 2004.

The exhibition, "Chao Shao-an Gallery - Chinese Painting from The Mengxuan Tang Collection", features important works by various masters who were artistic collaborators of Professor Chao Shao-on (1905-1998). Most of the works on display are being shown in public for the first time.

An outstanding master of the Lingnan School of Painting, Professor Chao achieved an impressive international reputation, in particular for the unparalleled talent he showed in flower-and-bird paintings. To pay tribute to this great master, the Heritage Museum has established a permanent exhibition gallery to showcase his works and his collection.

The exhibition is intended to provide insight into Professor Chao's life and his friendships with other inspirational artists who played a leading role in the development of Chinese painting.

Located at 1 Man Lam Road in Sha Tin, the Heritage Museum is open from 10am to 6pm from Monday to Saturday, and from 10am to 7pm on Sundays and public holidays. It is closed on Tuesdays (except public holidays). Admission is $10, with a half-price concession for full-time students, people with disabilities and senior citizens aged 60 or above. Admission is free on Wednesdays.

A free shuttle bus operates between the Sha Tin KCR Station and the Heritage Museum from 1 pm to 6 pm on Saturdays and from 1 pm to 7 pm on Sundays and public holidays.

For enquiries, please call 2180 8188 or visit the Heritage Museum's website at http://hk.heritage.museum.
