Music theatre "The Seventh Drawer" staged in late October

*********************************************************

Surrealistic music theatre "The Seventh Drawer" will be staged from late October at the Hong Kong Cultural Centre, offering an experience of sight and sound, voices and actions, senses and sensation with a unique cast of movie actors and actresses, stage performers, singers, Chinese opera actors and an array of talented creative personnel.

Presented by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department and produced by Theatre Fanatico, "The Seventh Drawer" is one of the large-scale programs of the "Legends of China" Festival. This is a collaboration of Hoyingfung and John Chen that carries you on a journey into the heart of an old man who has survived a whole century through terrible ordeals of absurdity.

It is a story shaken off from seven drawers containing buried pieces of reminiscence and reflection, revealing the path paved by the footsteps of a common man through an unusual era in contemporary Chinese history. It is a theatrical feast of an exhilarating dreamscape that drums the hearts of many and reminds us of the inevitable absurdity of human history.

Dramatists include scriptwriter/lyricist/director/set designer Hoyingfung, composer/music arrangements/music director/sound designer John Chen, costume and image designer Yee Chung-man, lighting designer Leo Cheung, make-up designer Chan Ming-long, live performance by John Chen Group, and videography by Woolingling and Hoyingfung. Actors include renowned movie stars Elaine Jin, Sam Lee, Liu Xun, Josie Ho, and stage actors Yeung Sze-man, Chan Ming-long, Popo Tso, Priscilla Leung, Antoinette Mak, Owen Wong, Kearen Pang, Lee Ka-wing and Chan Cho-kin.

"The Seventh Drawer" will be staged at 7:30pm from October 31 to November 2 at the Hong Kong Cultural Centre Grand Theatre. The programme is presented in Cantonese and Putonghua with Chinese and English surtitles of lyrics. Tickets priced at $220, $180, $140 and $100 are available at all URBTIX outlets.
