Arts Corners extended at Victoria Park, HK Park Oct. 1

******************************************************

The popular outdoor entertainments known as "Arts Corners" will be extended at Victoria Park and Hong Kong Park from tomorrow (October 1).

At Victoria Park, the "Arts Corner" located at the South Pavilion and South Pavilion Plaza will be open on Sundays and public holidays from 10am to 6pm until June 27, 2004.

The 24 stalls will be occupied by sellers of recreational, artistic and cultural souvenirs, and by skilled painters, photographers, calligraphers and sketch artists.

The "Arts Corner" at Hong Kong Park is located near the Museum of Teaware. It will be open on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays from 12 noon to 6pm until June 30, 2004. Its 10 arts service stalls will feature painting, photography, calligraphy, portrait sketching and traditional Chinese crafts.

The Arts Corners, which are entering their third round, are organised by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department, which also operates "Arts Fun Fairs" at Kowloon Park and Lai Chi Kok Park (Stage III). Admission to both "Arts Corners" and "Arts Fun Fairs" is free.

"The 'Arts Corners' aim to help the public to cultivate an appreciation of the arts, thus enhancing the arts culture of Hong Kong and making the parks more appealing to local and overseas visitors," a department spokesman said.

"They will be a lot of fun for our visitors and are definitely not to be missed," he added.
