LCSD's law enforcement against wax burning and littering on the day following Mid-Autumn Festival

As at midnight yesterday (September 12), a total of seven summons comprising one illegal hawking and six wax burning were booked and 2 332 verbal warnings were given to members of the public during the anti-wax burning and anti-littering operations at the Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD)'s venues on the day following Mid-Autumn Festival. There was one minor injury case reported.

This brings to a total of 16 summons, comprising three illegal hawking and 13 wax burning. Also 8,580 verbal warnings were issued in the three-day operations since Wednesday (September 10) with one injury case so far.

There were five fixed penalty tickets of $1,500 issued to littering offenders. This brings to a total of eight fixed penalty tickets issued during the last three days.

LCSD staff started their three-day anti-wax burning and anti-littering operations from Wednesday (September 10) from 7 pm until midnight each night. Six reports were made through the 24-hour hotline 2414 5555 on wax burning in LCSD venues yesterday. This brings to 12 the total number of complaints in the past three days.

The hotline will continue to operate to receive complaints and the Department will continue to monitor the situation closely.
