Mong Kok Stadium opens at 5pm tomorrow for broadcast ticket holders

Mong Kok Stadium will open at 5pm tomorrow (August 8) for those with tickets to view the live big-screen TV broadcast of the soccer match between Real Madrid and the Hong Kong Team.

The match is scheduled to start at Hong Kong Stadium at 8pm.

A spokesman for the Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD) advised those without tickets not to go to the Stadium. Only ticket holders would be admitted, he said.

He also appealed to ticket holders:

- to use public transport and arrive early for the match;

- to follow the instructions of stadium staff and Police at the scene;

- to observe the rules and regulations of Mong Kok Stadium;

- to refrain from smoking; and

- not to carry plastic or glass bottles, metal containers or dangerous items into the Stadium.

Motorists are also advised to avoid the area if possible.

In view of the overwhelming public interest in the match, the LCSD decided to open Mong Kok Stadium for the live relay so fans could share the excitement of a stadium-like atmosphere.

A maximum of 9,000 fans will be able to see the broadcast on a giant TV screen free of charge. All tickets were allocated by lottery.
