Tickets for Real Madrid TV match at Mong Kok Stadium ready to be picked up

People who successfully applied for tickets to watch the big-screen television relay of the Real Madrid football match at Mong Kok Stadium may claim their tickets starting today (August 5).

A spokesman for the Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD) said 5,990 people applied for free tickets.

"The response from soccer fans was overwhelming. The number of applications was far more than we could satisfy," he said.

"Each district will have 125 successful applicants after drawing lots and each of them will be allotted four tickets.

"Those who are allotted tickets should collect them on or before August 7 at the venues where they submitted their applications. They are required to show proof of identity."

The results of the balloting have been posted at all 17 designated sports centres and the Islands District Leisure Services Office, and can be seen starting tomorrow (August 6) on the LCSD website, http://www.lcsd.gov.hk.

Successful applicants will also be notified by phone.

The LCSD decided to open Mong Kok Stadium for a live broadcast of the August 8 match to allow more people to watch the event in a stadium-like atmosphere and to share the excitement with other soccer fans.

"Ticket holders for the live broadcast will be allowed to enter Mong Kok Stadium from 7pm on August 8," the LCSD spokesman said.
