Hong Kong Art Biennial 2003 results announced
*********************************************
The results of the "Hong Kong Art Biennial 2003", one of the largest art competitions in Hong Kong, have been announced following two rounds of judging.
The adjudicators noted that the winning entries, in a wide range of media, showed the diversity of Hong Kong art as well as the styles and characteristics of contemporary Hong Kong artists.
This open competition, now in its 14th year, is presented by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department and organised by the Hong Kong Museum of Art. It aims to encourage more artistic creation, participation and exchange among artists, enhance the public appreciation of art, and promote Hong Kong's status in the international context.
The competition attracted more than 1,500 entries. A panel of six local adjudicators selected 313 works for the second round of judging. The final selection was conducted by a panel of six adjudicators from overseas and the Mainland and six local adjudicators, and 10 prizes of excellence were awarded. The adjudicators based their decision on originality, creativity and technical competence. The results are as follows:
