Free Summer Fun Carnival at Sha Tin Town Hall tomorrow

Spend a delightful afternoon with your family at the Summer Fun Carnival tomorrow (July 20) at Sha Tin Town Hall Podium and Plaza.

The free event is part of the summer festival "International Arts Carnival".

Among the attractions are a puppet musical, a puppet shadow show, fun workshops on puppet making and puppeteering, and crafts stalls.

The young and energetic group "Make Friends with Puppet" will present a puppetry musical "Ah Dull and Little Dragon" at the Sha Tin Town Hall Plaza. This touching story will reveal why nearly all children in China once wore a bellyband with a beautiful embroidered dragon. Children can also enjoy a puppet show based on a folk tale "Giant Winter Melon", and they may even be invited on to the stage to share the fun first-hand.

Another puppet performance on the Sha Tin Town Hall Podium will spirit you into the fascinating world of Chinese myths and amaze you with the intricate skills of glove puppetry, string puppetry and shadow puppet.

At the Podium, members of the public can also enjoy the fun of puppet-making at the workshops. They can even learn the skill of operating puppets.

The craft stalls also feature simple and creative making of puppetry with use of paper cup, paper plate and cloth etc.

Some lovely characters will also rove about the venue, bringing fun and photo opportunity to you.

The "Summer Fun Carnival" will be held from 2.30 pm to 5.30 pm on July 20 at the Sha Tin Town Hall Podium and Plaza.

End/Saturday, July 19, 2003
