Lady MacLehose Holiday Village to reopen Monday
The Lady MacLehose Holiday Village will reopen for holiday campers from Monday (July 14).
The holiday camp was one of four used by the Government as isolation centres for families and medical staff affected by Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS).
A spokesman for the Leisure and Cultural Services Department said normal camping services of the Lady MacLehose Holiday Village would now resume.
To ensure a clean environment, the department has carried out thorough cleansing and disinfection of all indoor and outdoor facilities at the camp in strict accordance with the guidelines issued by the Department of Health.
"We have also issued guidelines to all the cleansing contractors in the holiday camp to intensify cleansing and disinfection under close supervision of our camp staff," the spokesman said.
All dormitories and hostel rooms will be cleaned and disinfected at least once a day. Toilet and bathing facilities and common areas will be cleaned and disinfected four times a day.
New mattresses, bed sheets, quilts, blankets, pillows and pillowcases have been bought to replace those that were used during the time when the camp served as an isolation centre.
Bed sheets and pillowcases will be labelled "Cleaned" after daily laundering. Even the toilet bowls, once sanitised, will be labelled "Disinfected". Liquid soap and hand dryers will be provided.
"We will take every step necessary to maintain cleanliness at our holiday camps to provide a safe and comfortable leisure environment for the enjoyment of the campers," the spokesman said.
Notices have also been posted at the camp sites, appealing to campers to observe personal hygiene and keep the environment clean.
The Lady MacLehose Holiday Village is now open for bookings between mid-July and October. Interested parties should apply at Leisure Link outlets in the district leisure offices and sports centres located in all 18 districts.
The public may also send in applications now to reserve camp places from November onwards.
Sai Kung Outdoor Recreation Centre and Tso Kung Tam Outdoor Recreation Centre were reopened on May 16 and the Lei Yue Mun Park Holiday Village was reopened on June 1.
