Additional performance set for "My Date with Mozart"

An additional performance of the Hong Kong Sinfonietta programme "My Date with Mozart" will be held at 8 pm on August 17 at the Hong Kong Cultural Centre due to overwhelming audience response.

The programme is part of the summer festival International Arts Carnival.

In "My Date with Mozart", the Hong Kong Sinfonietta, music director/conductor Yip Wing-sie and comedian Cheung Tat-ming celebrate the musical genius of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart in a lively and entertaining fashion, playing some of the best music by Mozart.

Other artists taking part are piano soloist Peter Fan, mezzo soprano Stefanie Willis, violin soloist Winty Wan and bassoon soloist Chin Hing-sang.

The programme comprises: Ah vous dirai-je, maman ("Twinkle Twinkle Little Stars" Variations); The Marriage of Figaro Overture; Piano Quartet in G minor, K478, 1st movement; "Voi, che sapete" from The Marriage of Figaro; Bassoon Concerto in B-flat, K191, 1st movement; Violin Concerto No 3 in G, K216, 1st movement; Don Giovanni Overture, K527; Eine kleine Nachtmusik, K525 1st movement; Symphony No 41 in C, K551, "Jupiter", 4th movement.

The Hong Kong Sinfonietta, founded in 1990 by a group of young musicians, now has a roster of 58 players. The orchestra's mission is to develop an audience for classical music with specially designed interactive concerts and to commission works that explore new musical dimensions.

Music Director Yip Wing-sie, won first prize and the Lyre d'Or at the 35th Concours International des Jeunes Chefs d'Orchestre de Besancon, France. She was also a winner in the 8th Tokyo International Conducting Competition. Before joining the Hong Kong Sinfonietta in 2002, she worked with the Guangzhou Symphony Orchestra and the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra.

Cheung Tat-ming is a renowned playwright, stand-up comedian and actor in Hong Kong.

Including the additional performance, the concert will be held at 3pm and 8pm on August 17 at the Hong Kong Cultural Centre Concert Hall.

Tickets for "My Date with Mozart", priced at $90, $120, $150 and $180, are available at URBTIX outlets. The programme is part of the "Arts Care" ticket discount scheme. Patrons can enjoy a 20% discount for each purchase of four to seven tickets and a 40% discount for each purchase of eight or more tickets.

The following discounts also apply:

- 50% discount for full-time students, senior citizens aged 60 or above, people with disabilities and Comprehensive Social Security Assistance recipients.

- 10% discount for Friends of Leisure and Cultural Services Department performing venues (maximum two full-price tickets for any performances).
