Master violinist Joseph Lin to perform in Hong Kong

Violinist Joseph Lin is sure to win over Hong Kong concert goers with a recital presented by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department in early July.

A young violinist described by the Boston Globe as "a master of the violin", Joseph Lin, has won numerous top international awards in the past few years. His trophies include First Prize at the inaugural Michael Hill World Violin Competition in New Zealand and a top prize at the 2000 Hannover Violin Competition. He has also appeared as a soloist with many renowned orchestras, including the Boston Symphony under Seiji Ozawa, the Boston Pops under Keith Lockhart, the Eugene Symphony and the Auckland Philharmonia under Miguel Harth-Bedoya and the Orchestra of St Luke's under Peter Oundjian. He also recorded his debut CD for Naxos record label in 2002.

Lin will perform with versatile pianist Tammy Lum, presenting a number of melodies, including Korngold's Suite Much Ado About Nothing, Debussy's Violin Sonata, Ernst's Variations on Last Rose of Summer and Frank's Violin Sonata in A.

The concert is the first in this year's City Hall Theatre Recital Series to be held at 8pm on July 5 (Saturday) at the Theatre, Hong Kong City Hall. Tickets priced at $120 and $80 are now available at all URBTIX outlets.

Patrons can enjoy a special offer of free selections from any of the Arts Care programmes: 20% discount for each purchase of four to seven tickets, or 40% discount for each purchase of eight or more tickets.

The Arts Care scheme is also applicable to patrons with existing ticketing concessions: half-price for full-time students, senior citizens, people with disabilities and Comprehensive Social Security Assistance (CSSA) recipients (limited tickets for students and CSSA recipients available on a first-come-first-served basis), or 10% off for Friends of LCSD performing venues (up to two full-price tickets for any one performance).
