Public swimming pools open on Tuesday


The Leisure and Cultural Services Department announced today (April 19) that its public swimming pools would reopen on Tuesday, April 22.

Exceptions are the following pools, where annual maintenance has yet to be completed:

* Ho Man Tin Swimming Pool;

* main pool of Yuen Long Swimming Pool;

* main pool of Sha Tin Jockey Club Swimming Pool;

* main pool of Tseung Kwan O Swimming Pool;

* indoor pools of Kowloon Park Swimming Pool;

* Hammer Hill Road Swimming Pool; and

* main pool of Fanling Swimming Pool.

A spokesman for the department said all the swimming pools had been thoroughly cleaned and disinfected.

"The pool water will be tested before opening each day and hourly during the opening periods to ensure that the water quality of the pools complies with the standard recommended by the Department of Health," the spokesman said.

"For the benefit of others, any person suffering from respiratory tract infections are advised to refrain from entering public swimming pool facilities. Also, anyone found in the pool area with symptoms of respiratory disease will be advised to leave and seek medical attention."
