Youth Wellness Camp promotes sports for teenagers
*************************************************
The Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD) is now inviting teenagers aged between 13 and 17, who love playing sports, to enrol for the Youth Wellness Camp.
The programme will be held from April 20 to 23, at Sai Kung Outdoor Recreation Centre. It aims to encourage the teenagers to participate in sports activities and strike a balance between their pressured study life and health.
Participants must select among basketball, soccer, volleyball, table tennis, orienteering and archery for training at the camp. The department will also arrange sport climbing, roller-skating and adventure activities for them.
A department spokesman said that by joining in the sports and training programmes, competitions and outdoor adventures, participants could learn to build up their team spirit. It would also enhance their physical and psychological development; as well as improve their social communication skills.
"These will eventually help brighten their lives," the spokesman added.
The application fees for teenagers aged 13 and 14 and those aged between 15 and 17 are HK$225 and HK$296 respectively. Application forms are now available at the LCSD's holiday camp offices, all District Leisure Services Offices and Sports Centres.
The deadline for applications is March 31.
Enquiries can be made by calling Sai Kung Outdoor Recreation Centre on 2792 3828 or 2791 2245.
