Alumni To Perform at Music Office Annual Gala


To celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Music Office of the Leisure and Cultural Services Department, about 150 alumni are invited to perform in the "2003 Music Office Annual Gala" at 3 pm on March 30 (Sunday) at the Hong Kong Cultural Centre Concert Hall with orchestras, bands and choirs trained by the Music Office.

Over 500 musicians and alumni of the Hong Kong Youth Symphony Orchestra, Hong Kong Youth Chinese Orchestra, Music Office Youth Choir, Music Office Children's Choir, Music Office Alumni Band and String Orchestra, together with renowned guest conductors Mr. Thomas Wang, Mr. Tong Leung-tak and Mr. Leung Bo-kun, as well as conductors Ms. Angelina Au and Mr.Tsui Ying-fai will perform marvelous music throughout the concert. Also, Mr. Peter Yue is invited to be the guest organist/harpsichordist, and Ms. Lily Homer and Ms. Sophia Teng are violin soloists.

The programme include Mr. Kuan Nai-chung's world premiere music, "Joyful Encounter of North and South", Shostakovich's "Festival Overture", Haydn's "Te Deum Laudamus", Vivaldi's "Concerto Grosso in a minor No. 8, Op.3" and Mozart's "Marriage of Figaro Overture".

Tickets priced at $60 and $40 are now available at all URBTIX outlets. Half-priced concessions are available to senior citizens, people with disabilities, full-time students and Comprehensive Social Security Assistance Recipients. There is a 10 per cent discount for purchase of five to nine full-price tickets, and 20 per cent discount for purchase of ten or more full-price tickets.
