A Concert of Pop Classics by Chinese Instruments


One of the attractive programmes from the Leisure and Cultural Services Department's "Family Series", the Hong Kong Music Lover Chinese Orchestra will perform "Chinese Music Dynamica Concert" in April.

Led by Conductor Kam Shui-wing, the Orchestra will perform pop classics "The Chinese", "Sweet So Sweet", movie music "Monkeys Fish for the Moon", children's songs "Chibimaruko-chan", "Hamutaro", "McDull", etc. Audience can request their favourite children's songs and the Orchestra will play the top five in the concert.

The Hong Kong Music Lover Chinese Orchestra was established in 1979, with an aim to promote Chinese music and carry forward its rich heritage. The Orchestra has given many public performances at the invitation of the Leisure and Cultural Services Department, the Music Office, the Hong Kong Arts Festival Society, the Hong Kong Tourism Board, and many private organizations of Hong Kong. In December 1999, the Orchestra organized a highly successful 20th Anniversary concert entitled "The Way We Were". Performing aside, the Orchestra has made many recordings in both cassette tape and CD, including "Song of the Chariots", "Gongs and Drums in Celebration of a Bumper Harvest" and the "Gold Disc winner", "Fishermen's Song of the East Sea".

April 20(Sun) 3pm Auditorium, Tai Po Civic Centre

April 27(Sun) 3pm Theatre, Sai Wan Ho Civic Centre

Tickets priced at $70 are now available at all URBTIX outlets. Half-price concessions will be granted to senior citizens, people with disabilities, full-time students and Comprehensive Social Security Assistance (CSSA) recipients (Discount tickets for CSSA recipients available on a first-come, first-served basis).
