Work Improvement Teams Awards for parks and playgrounds

Staff members of the Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD) with outstanding achievements in improving service quality of parks and playgrounds were presented the Work Improvement Teams (WIT) Awards today (February 26).

Speaking at today's prize presentation ceremony, the Director of Leisure and Cultural Services, Ms Anissa Wong Sean-yee, said the WIT Awards recognised the hard work and efforts of staff members.

"Through group discussions, our staff tried to find new ways to improve customer service. Novel ideas were often developed when ideas and views were exchanged among colleagues. These include beautification of the paths in the parks by using recycled materials so that visitors can take good photographs; and trimming of plants to the shape of the departmental logo at the venue entrance. Such improvements exemplify the team spirit and collective participation of our front-line staff," added Ms Wong.

Among the new initiatives proposed, Ms Wong considered the most well-received improvements include: putting up labels for plants and flowers; installation of safety mats at children's playing facilities; and construction of modern leisure and fitness facilities and equipments like the pebble walking trails, meeting the demand of the public while promoting the concept of fitness for all.

The overall champion, the Gold Award of the WIT Awards, goes to the Hong Kong Park as it has shown its excellence in various aspects including facilities improvements, team work and image building and etc.
