"Family Series" to bring a joyful season to parents and kids

*********************************************************

The Leisure and Cultural Services Department has arranged a host of fascinating programmes for the "Family Series" to be held in March and April. All of them are excellent choices for the children and their parents to enjoy or participate.

Programmes of the "Family Series" include dramas, puppet show, magic show, acrobatic show as well as concerts. Last but not the least, there will be a series of workshops, guided tours to go into the "dreamland" of different kinds of stage performances.

Chung Ying Theatre Co. will bring to our audience a delightful family musical "Eleven Cats" which has been one of the most popular theatre performances over the past thirty years in Japan. The story is picaresque with charming characters and fascinating songs.

"Super Kids!?" by Jumbo Kids is another attractive drama programme focusing on the problem of communications between parents and kids.

"The World Magic Gala" groups together with well-known magicians from Poland, USA, Canada, Japan, the Mainland and Hong Kong display their stunning skills to perform gorgeous magic programmes.

There will be two music programmes in the Series. The first one is "Chinese Music Dynamica Concert" by the Hong Kong Music Lover Chinese Orchestra. Led by Conductor Kam Shui-wing, the Orchestra will perform some popular and classical pieces and also children's songs chosen by the audience on the spot. Another programme featuring two young musicians and the Hong Kong Children's Symphony Orchestra will be held in late April. Violin soloist Tan Yabing and Piano soloist Zhang Haochen are only twelve-year-olds who had won a lot of prizes and gave solo performances in the mainland with high acclaim.

"Comet in Moominland" by Manitoba Theatre for Young People from Canada will let you experience the exciting and funny journey with Moomin and his friends Snufkin and Snork Maiden... The audience will be seated in the special tent to start a journey in Moominland through valleys and ocean beds with crocodiles, giant lizards and eccentric characters.

A group of fourteen- to seventeen-year-olds performers from Nanjing Acrobatic Troupe will also be here to show their magnificent skills on a series of exciting and award-winning programmes like "Diabolo Play", "Stacked Chairs", "Spinning Plates", "Pussy throughs the Loops", etc.

In addition to stage performances, there will be five interesting workshops for parents and their kids to have some enjoyable moments.
