Recreation and Sports Venues Opening Hours During Lunar New Year Holidays

The Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD) announced today (January 27) that all the recreation and sports facilities would remain open on Lunar New Year's Eve (January 31).

An LCSD spokesman said, "All recreation and sports venues, except the Tai Po Shuen Wan Temporary Golf Driving Range, stadia and sports grounds with advance bookings, as well as the sports facilities, the LCSD Leisure Link and the URBTIX advanced booking services at Queen Elizabeth Stadium will be closed on the first and second day of Lunar New Year (February 1 and 2)."

"A number of these facilities will resume to normal services on the third day of Lunar New Year (February 3). They include 25 sports centres, 11 grass pitches, 21 squash courts, 17 tennis courts, all bowling greens and obstacle golf course."

"The LCSD Leisure Link booking services at all venues will be suspended on the first and second day of Lunar New Year (February 1 to 2) and will resume to normal operation on the third day of Lunar New Year at the above venues that are to be re-open on that day."

"Meanwhile, the LCSD Leisure Link Internet and telephone booking services will remain normal during the Lunar New Year holidays," the spokesman added.

There will be no residential camps for holiday camps from Lunar New Year's Eve (January 31) to the third day of Lunar New Year (February 3).

The sports facilities, the LCSD Leisure Link and the URBTIX advanced booking services at Queen Elizabeth Stadium will also be closed from 5 pm on Lunar New Year's Eve (January 31) to the first day of Lunar New Year (February 1).

As in previous years, all heated swimming pools and water sports centers will be closed on the first three days of Lunar New Year (February 1 to 3). The same also applies to stadia and sports grounds unless there is advance booking.


The Tai Po Shuen Wan Temporary Golf Driving Range will be closed on the first day of Lunar New Year (February 1), but will be open to golf-players the next day (February 2).

Other sports facilities such as sports centres, tennis courts, squash courts, bowling greens, obstacle golf course, grass pitches and artificial grass pitches will be closed on the first and second day of Lunar New Year (February 1 to 2).

The Tuen Mun Recreation and Sports Centre will also be closed on the first and second day of Lunar New Year (February 1 to 2) and will be re-open on the third day of Lunar New Year (February 3).

During the holidays, routine services such as animal care, cleansing, watering and park-keeping services will be provided in nurseries as well as major parks and playgrounds, including Chai Wan Park, Quarry Bay Park, Victoria Park, Wan Chai Park, Hong Kong Park, Hong Kong Zoological and Botanical Gardens on Hong Kong Island; Fung Tak Park, Kowloon Tsai Park, Kowloon Walled City Park, Morse Park, Kai Tak East Playground, Lam Tin Park, Laguna Park, Kowloon Park, Tung Chau Street Park, Sham Shui Po Park and Shek Kip Mei Park in Kowloon; Tuen Mun Park, Yuen Long Park, Tin Shui Wai Park, Tsuen Wan Park, Shing Mun Valley Park, Tsing Yi Park, North District Park, Tai Po Waterfront Park, Sha Tin Park and Ma On Shan Park in the New Territories.

Notices with details of opening hours during the Lunar New Year holidays have been posted at all venues.
