Book Donation & Sale Campaign To Promote Reading and Support Charity

Appeals are being made to members of the public as well as book lovers to donate their used books in a bid to support the Book donation & Sale Campaign for a good cause.

The spokesman for the Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD) said, "the Book Donation & Sale Campaign, the second one of its kind, is held as part of the public libraries activities to promote reading and encourage the sharing of books. People can also take the opportunity to select their favourite books at a very attractive price. What is more, the amount generated from the sale will be donated to the Community Chest of Hong Kong for charity."

The Campaign is organized by the LCSD, Home Affairs Department, 18 District Councils, the Community Chest of Hong Kong, the Hong Kong Post and the Agency for Volunteer Service.

The spokesman also said, "public can donate books from tomorrow (January 2) to February 14 at all Hong Kong public libraries (except mobile libraries). We accept adults and children books on general subjects but exclude magazines, primary and secondary text books."

The sale of donated books to be held on February 15 and 16 (Saturday and Sunday) from 10 am to 6 pm at the Hong Kong Central Library Exhibition Gallery and the Sha Tin Town Hall Exhibition Gallery. Each book will be sold at HK$5.
