Come and join the family fiesta in spring

     Presented by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department, the "Family Fiesta" series to be held in March and April is especially curated to bring enjoyment to children and families.

     The series will comprise eight entertaining programmes ranging from music and theatre to puppetry and juggling.

     Kicking off the series will be a children's detective drama "School Detective 2 in 1 Series @ E G Crisis" by the Jumbo Kids Theatre. A school detective vows to resolve the mystery of why a little girl changes from a fondness for reading to playing computer games. The drama is in Cantonese. Details are as follows:

     Renowned composer Mui Kwong-chiu will collaborate with percussionists Lung Heung-wing and Choy Lap-tak and flute virtuoso Ken Wu in a multi-media percussion musical extravaganza, "Percussive Colours". It incorporates original electronic music, live percussion, originally designed visual projections and live images from cinematographer George Chang to form a unique theatrical presentation of percussion, light and colours.      One of Hong Kong's most promising puppet theatres, Make Friends with Puppet, will put on a puppet show inspired by Hemingway's "The Old Man and the Sea". Puppets combined with original music, mime and video will relate the classic story as told by the Nobel laureate. Details of the programme:

     Ming Ri Institute for Arts Education and Mabou Mines (USA) will jointly produce a puppet drama "Brer Rabbit in the Land of Monkey King" about friendships between different cultures. Members of the Guangxi Puppet Art Troupe of China will also perform in the show, details of which are:

     Winner of the International Juggling Championships and the Comedy Entertainer of the Year 1998, Mark Nizer, from the US, will stage a one-man show "Expect the Impossible" in Hong Kong. His performance combines original comedy, world class juggling, movement, music and technology, turning the impossible into the possible, the improbable into the probable. Details of his show:

     For music lovers, the Hong Kong YWCA Chinese Orchestra will perform "The Animal World II" with the lovely Bear Children's Choir, featuring songs and a musical with animal themes. Details of the programme are:

     The Hong Kong Music Lover Chinese Orchestra will perform an array of TV and movie theme songs in "Hits of TV and Movies Music", featuring versatile actress Pau Hee-ching and erhu diva Hou Shihchieh. Details of the concerts are:

     The Hong Kong Children's Symphony Orchestra will collaborate with popular violinist Mengla Huang in the concert "A Youthful Vision of the World", playing works from Dvorak and Paganini. Below are the details of the concert:

     Tickets for the above programmes are now available at URBTIX outlets. Senior citizens aged 60 or above, people with disabilities, full-time students and Comprehensive Social Security Assistance (CSSA) recipients may have 50% off (limited quotas for CSSA recipients on a first-come, first-served basis).
