2014 Community Cultural Ambassador Scheme applications invited

The Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD) is inviting applications for the 2014 Community Cultural Ambassador Scheme.

The scheme aims to bring the arts into the community by encouraging local performing artists and arts groups to organise outreach arts activities throughout Hong Kong, so as to develop an interest in the performing arts among the general public or different community groups. The scheme is open for applications from today until June 3.

Applicants should be registered local non-profit-making performing arts groups or ensembles of artists that have been active in the past three years and possess actual experience in public performance of a high standard. Applicants may submit proposals for audience building/arts educational activities that are specifically designed for particular community groups or which will be conducted in specific districts, or for audience-building/arts-educational activities that are designed for the general public. Applicants may submit one proposal for either or both of the above types of activities. However, only one of the proposals submitted by the same applicant will be considered by the department each year.

The proposal should cover one or more performing art form, such as Chinese opera/operatic singing, dance, music, theatrical arts (including drama, mime, magic and puppetry) and multi-arts. Proposed projects may include one or a combination of the following types of activities: performance, workshop, episodic performance, lecture, demonstration and exhibition.

The application guide and form for the scheme are available at  as well as the department's performing arts venues, and can be obtained by mail or in person from the Audience Building Office at Podium, Administration Building, Hong Kong Cultural Centre, 10 Salisbury Road, Tsim Sha Tsui (from 9am to 6pm, Monday to Friday); or by fax at 2370 8295.

The deadline for application is 6pm on June 3. Please refer to the application guide and form for details. Applications sent by post will be checked against the postmark.

For enquiries, please call 2268 7367.
