Spanish guitar maestro Pepe Romero to perform in June

World-renowned classical and flamenco guitar maestro Pepe Romero will perform an all-Spanish recital programme titled "Songs My Father Taught Me" in June.

One of the most celebrated and versatile musicians of his generation, Spanish-born guitarist Pepe Romero has enjoyed an illustrious career and is particularly well known for his dazzling virtuosity, compelling interpretations and flawless technique on the instrument. Together with his father, the legendary Celedonio Romero, and his brothers Celin and Angel, Pepe formed the Romeros Quartet - dubbed the "Royal Family of the Guitar" – often referred to as the world's leading guitar ensemble.

Pepe is also a passionate advocate of the traditional flamenco music of his native Andalusia and has been awarded the Premio Andalucia de My - úsica, the highest recognition given by his province for contributions to the arts. In 2007, the Romeros received the President's Merit Award from the Recording Academy, producers of the Grammy Awards, for their significant contributions to music and their professional career achievements.

In 2012-2013, Pepe is honouring the 100th anniversary of his father's birth, the legendary Celedonio Romero, and in the coming season will tour the world celebrating his own 70th year.
