The Music Office of the Leisure and Cultural Services Department has been presenting a series of joint school concerts under the title "Love & Music" since February. Primary and secondary school students participating in the final three concerts, to be held on April 3 and April 13, will showcase their creativity through a variety of musical performances on the theme of love.

Thirty-five primary and secondary schools will perform in these last three concerts. The concert on April 3 (Wednesday) at 3pm in the Auditorium of Tsuen Wan Town Hall will present a hand bell ensemble playing the children's music of "It's a Small World" and "Music Box Dancer", the West African traditional music pieces "Sofa" and "Tiriba", and a students' musical drama, "Fame", to present songs about Romeo and Juliet's love and friendship.

Two concerts will take place on April 13 (Saturday) in the Auditorium of Tuen Mun Town Hall. The concert at 10.30am will feature several choral performances, including hymns like "Unreserved Love", "Grace Is Too Beautiful" and "Take These Wings", as well as a harmonica ensemble playing "Malaguena".

The final concert, which will take place at 3pm in the same venue, will include an orchestra ensemble playing Beethoven's "4th movement from Symphony No. 9 in D minor, Op. 125" and British composer Edward Elgar's "Salut d'Amour" and a Chinese music ensemble playing the traditional piece "Fishermen's Song of the East China Sea".

To encourage students to strive for excellence in music, creative thinking, communication skills and team co-operation, various awards including awards for Outstanding Performance, Meritorious Performance, Judges' Appreciation and Theme Presentation will be presented at the concerts. Members of the audience are invited to vote for the Audience's Favourite Award at each concert to support students' performances and to enhance interaction during the concerts.

Tickets priced at $40 for the joint concerts are now available at all URBTIX outlets. Half-price concessions are available for full-time students, senior citizens aged 60 and above, people with disabilities and Comprehensive Social Security Assistance recipients. Credit card bookings can be made at 2111 5999, and Internet bookings can be made at www.urbtix.hk .
