Presented by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department's "Cheers!" series, "Let Dreams Fly" will be staged in early January, 2013. The show, featuring an encouraging storyline, will be performed by virtuosi and talented artists to form a cross-media creation with music, visuals and poems.
Over a year in the making, "Let Dreams Fly" is the latest production by renowned Hong Kong composer Dr Mui Kwong-chiu. The story is about dreams of youth and divided into eight acts: "Song of the Universe", "Fairy in the Woods", "Honey Song", "Waves Chasing", "Song for the Young", "Jungle Parade", "Over the Rainbow" and "Let Dreams Fly". The music and lyrics of "Song for the Young" were composed by Dr Mui 30 years ago.
The production will offer a cross-media musical theatre experience integrating original music, visuals, recitation and theatrical elements conceived by Dr Mui. Made in collaboration with some of the top names in the local music scene - Leung Kin-fung (violin), Dr Lung Heung-wing (percussion), Dr Cheng Wai (piano) and Ernie Leung (chromatic harmonica) - it promises to be a theatre experience that can stir the audience's liveliest imagination.
Composer and producer Dr Mui said, "'Let Dreams Fly' .... To have dreams is beautiful! Now let us ride on the wings of music and take to the infinite skies, across the beautiful Earth, over the rainbow, with a dream in our heart .... Until we are on that far side of the rainbow, you and I ...."
