Winter lifeguard services at beaches

     The Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD) today (October 30) announced the following arrangements for lifeguard services at its 36 gazetted beaches during the period between November 1, 2012 and March 31, 2013:

Repulse Bay Beach, Middle Bay Beach, Stanley Main Beach and Big Wave Bay Beach

Lifeguard services available from 9am to 6pm daily

December 1, 2012 to February 28, 2013
Lifeguard services suspended

Deep Water Bay Beach

Lifeguard services available from 9am to 6pm daily

December 1, 2012 to February 28, 2013
Lifeguard services available from 8am to 5pm daily

Clear Water Bay Second Beach, Silverstrand Beach and Golden Beach

Lifeguard services available from 8am to 5pm daily


     Lifeguard services at the remaining 28 LCSD beaches will be suspended from November 1, 2012 to March 31, 2013. These beaches are South Bay Beach, Chung Hom Kok Beach, St Stephen's Beach, Shek O Beach and Turtle Cove Beach in Southern District; Trio Beach, Kiu Tsui Beach, Hap Mun Bay Beach and Clear Water Bay First Beach in Sai Kung District; Hung Shing Yeh Beach, Lo So Shing Beach, Kwun Yam Beach, Cheung Chau Tung Wan Beach, Silver Mine Bay Beach, Pui O Beach, Upper Cheung Sha Beach, Lower Cheung Sha Beach and Tong Fuk Beach in Islands District; Butterfly Beach, Castle Peak Beach, Kadoorie Beach, Cafeteria Old Beach and Cafeteria New Beach in Tuen Mun District; and Hoi Mei Wan Beach, Casam Beach, Lido Beach, Approach Beach and Ma Wan Tung Wan Beach in Tsuen Wan District.

     The LCSD calls on the public to observe water safety while enjoying swimming fun. They should swim at the beaches only when lifeguard services are available. Please do not enter the water when the red flag is hoisted.
