Concerts to showcase great music

     The Leisure and Cultural Services Department's Great Music Series will present five concerts in October and November. The programme will feature concerts by individual performers, an orchestra and a choir that have all won international acclaim.

     Patrons who purchase tickets for two concerts or more at one time will enjoy booking discounts.

     Details of the concerts are as follows:

Encore Series: Concert by Gidon Kremer and Kremerata Baltica
October 15 (Monday), 8pm
Concert Hall, Hong Kong Cultural Centre
Tickets: $520, $430, $350, $260, $180

The English Concert
October 16 (Tuesday), 8pm
Concert Hall, Hong Kong City Hall
Tickets: $400, $300, $200, $100

Wells Cathedral Choir
October 30 (Tuesday), 8pm
Concert Hall, Hong Kong City Hall
Tickets: $300, $200, $120

Encore Series: Piano Recital by Krystian Zimerman
November 7 (Wednesday), 8pm
Concert Hall, Hong Kong Cultural Centre
Tickets: $620, $480, $360, $200

Encore Series: Piano Recital by Piotr Anderszewski
November 19 (Monday), 8pm
Concert Hall, Hong Kong City Hall
Tickets: $320, $260, $200, $150

     Tickets will be available on August 28 (Tuesday) at all URBTIX outlets, on the Internet and by telephone credit card booking. Half-price tickets are available for senior citizens aged 60 or above, people with disabilities and their minders, full-time students and Comprehensive Social Security Assistance (CSSA) recipients (limited tickets for students and CSSA recipients available on a first-come, first-served basis).

     Patrons who purchase standard tickets for two or more of the above-mentioned concerts can enjoy a Great Music Series package discount. There is a 5 per cent discount for each purchase for two concerts, 10 per cent off for three concerts, 15 per cent off for four concerts, and 20 per cent off for all five concerts. There are also group booking discounts for individual programmes. Please refer to the series booklet and the programme leaflets for more details.

     Last but not the least, the Great Music Series is also presenting other not-to-be-missed programmes including Verdi's opera "La Traviata" from October 11 to 14 and concerts by San Francisco Symphony on November 8 and 9 (tickets available on September 13).
