Entries invited for flower show plant exhibits competition
**************************************************

The Hong Kong Flower Show 2012, presented by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD), will be held in Victoria Park from March 16 to 25. This year's show features "Floral Delights" as the main theme and the hyacinth is the theme flower.

The flower show is now inviting members of public to take part in its plant exhibits competition. Applications are free of charge and will remain open until February 8.

The Hong Kong Flower Show is a major annual LCSD event promoting horticulture and a greater awareness of green issues. Each year, it provides an opportunity for hundreds of thousands of local people and horticulture lovers from all over the world to appreciate the beauty of flowers and share their experiences of flower cultivation. The last show attracted about 500,000 visitors and over 200 organisations from 21 countries.

The plant exhibits competition, comprising Open and School categories, is divided into 15 sections and 94 classes. The sections include orchids, Chinese cymbidium, potted plants, cactus and succulents, foliage and carnivorous plants, African violets, bonsai-type plants, floral arrangements in Western and Oriental styles, floral art by school children, primary and secondary school potted plant growing/nursing, and the school garden plot competition.

Section winners will receive trophies. Hong Kong Flower Show Cups will be awarded to the best exhibits in the Open and School categories. A prize presentation ceremony will be held during the show at Victoria Park.

Completed entry forms should be returned in person or by post to the Secretariat, Show Committee of Hong Kong Flower Show 2012, 11/F Leisure and Cultural Services Headquarters, 1-3 Pai Tau Street, Sha Tin; or submitted by fax (2691 7264) on or before February 8.
