200 LCSD civil service lifeguards complete professional training

About 200 civil service lifeguards of Leisure and Cultural Services Department who had completed induction training received certificates at a ceremony held at Repulse Bay Beach today (March 17). Director of Leisure and Cultural Services, Mrs Betty Fung, attended the ceremony.

The comprehensive induction training focuses on lifeguard skills at swimming pools and beaches as well as physical drills to ensure a high standard of life saving services for the public. The lifeguards demonstrated their professional skills in the event.

A "Water Safety Ambassador" scheme is held by the LCSD during winter. Lifeguards who joined the scheme would visit primary schools to promote the importance on keeping swimming pool clean and be alertness on water safety. They guided the students to perform a drill during the ceremony.
