*****************************

The Leisure and Cultural Services Department held a fun-filled carnival "EAG Cultural Extravaganza" at the Hong Kong Cultural Centre today (December 12) to complement the 5th East Asian Games (EAG).

The Chairman of the 5th East Asian Games Planning Committee Mr Timothy Fok Tsun-ting and Director of Leisure and Cultural Services Mrs Betty Fung officiated at the opening ceremony.

Mrs Fung hoped the carnival would offer an experience of culture exchange among East Asian areas and that people had an enjoyable afternoon with the enriching programmes.

Overseas performing groups within the region staged cultural programmes in the cultural extravaganza to tie in with the EAG, including the Shaanxi Folk Arts Troupe from the Mainland, U Theatre from Taiwan, Za Ondekoza from Japan, Inetnon Gef Pa'go from Guam.
