Spot 4 – Plant Killer

Introduction

Mikania grows vigorously and climbs up to other plants efficiently in order to gain more sunlight. It covers up large area of the plants’ canopy. The plants being cover up by Mikania eventually die from deficiency of nutrient resulting from insufficient sunlight. Therefore, Mikania is called “Plant Killer”. Mikania is an exotic plant originated from South and Central America. In Hong Kong, Mikania causes serious ecological problem because there is almost no local natural enemy to control the quantity of Mikania.
