Spot 2 – White Jade Orchid Tree and Butterflies

Introduction

White Jade Orchid Tree is native to Indonesia. It is famous for its strong fragrance. In Hong Kong, White Jade Orchid Tree is also the larval host plant of 2 butterflies — the Tailed Jay and Common Jay. Mature larvae of the 2 butterflies are hairless and lovely. They feed on the leaves of the White Jade Orchid Tree and would stay on the leaf upper surface when resting. It is not difficult to find them under careful observation.
