The existing solid fence walls of the old TPCC have been demolished to turn the site into open space where both users and pedestrians can share the same landscaped scenery. At the same time, the walkable landscape space has become part of the streetscape and will encourage public use of the facilities. The facility upgrading works have successfully transformed the TPCC and TPAC into a synergistic ‘‘whole complex’’ and ‘‘cultural hub’’ by enhancing the connectivity and conformity between the two. In this outdoor area, the thematic flowering trees Tabebuia rosea and Crateva unilocularis bloom with showy pink, white or light yellow flowers in spring to present a spectacular seasonal sight, whereas ornamental shrubs such as Rhododendron pulchrum bear pink blossoms to create a flourishing soft landscape.
