Sport Climbing Facilities

1.
Overseas certificates possessed by hirers/users should be verified by the relevant National Sports Associations (NSAs) in Hong Kong before booking/using the facility.
2.
Hirers/users are advised to take every precautionary measure to ensure safety. Hirers/users without the valid and recognised qualification of a coach are required to bring their own equipment and gear and all equipment should comply with the safety standards of the NSAs concerned. All users of sport climbing facilities must inspect the equipment and gear for safety before using the facilities.
3.
At any time, a maximum of six users for each lane are allowed within the safety mat area for outdoor sport climbing facilities and a maximum of 20 users are allowed for indoor sport climbing facilities.  Only one user is allowed to climb at a time on each lane of the outdoor / indoor sport climbing facilities.  He/she should always be assisted by another user as a belayer for safety’s sake.
4.
For sport climbing facilities block-booked by organisations, any user not holding a recognised and valid sport climbing training level 2 certificate or above issued by the NSAs concerned should be accompanied by at least two persons, one of whom must hold a sport climbing training level 2 certificate or above and the other must hold a valid coach card issued by the NSAs concerned.
5.
For booking of sport climbing facilities by individuals, the hirer and all partner(s) must hold a valid sport climbing training level 2 certificate or above issued by the NSAs concerned for the use of climbing facilities.  If any of his / her partner(s) does not hold a valid sport climbing training level 2 certificate or above issued by the NSAs concerned, that person should be accompanied by the hirer and another partner in accordance with the requirement of Condition 4 above, one being a holder of a valid sport climbing training level 2 certificate or above and the other being a holder of a valid coach card issued by the NSAs concerned.  The above certificate / coach card is to be presented for verification during registration at the check-in counter.
6.
For outdoor sport climbing facilities block-booked by organisations for events such as fun days or demonstrations, the limit can be relaxed to 12 users per lane and up to a maximum of 48 users for four lanes, subject to a maximum of six users within the safety mat area at any time for each lane.  The other users should stay outside the safety mat area for safety’s sake.  If the block-booking hirer wishes to conduct training activities at the outdoor / indoor sport climbing facilities with the number of users exceeding the limits stipulated in Condition 3 above, he /she must seek prior approval from the venue management staff, who will take into consideration such factors as the area of the venue, public safety and management.
7.
Users are not allowed to change the climbing route settings without prior permission from the management.  Any change to the route settings must be carried out by qualified persons recommended/endorsed by the NSAs concerned.  Any altered route settings must be reinstated to the original state at the end of the booked session.
