Booking Arrangements

From 1 November 2026 onwards, the Yau Ma Tei Theatre will accept Ordinary Booking applications for major facility (i.e. Theatre) for the period from February to November 2027 as well as Late Booking applications for minor facilities (i.e. Rehearsal Rooms, Practice Rooms and Function Room) for the period from February to June 2027.

The Yau Ma Tei Theatre has been temporarily closed since September 2022 for the construction of Yau Ma Tei Theatre Phase 2 and is expected to provide professional services by early 2027 with a brand new look.

 

Major Facility : Theatre

[For Chinese opera and related activities only]

• Ordinary Booking applications for full-length Cantonese opera and opera excerpt performances are accepted not less than 3 months but not more than 12 months in advance of the month of hire.
• Other Chinese opera related activities (including regional opera performances, Chinese opera instrumental performances, Chinese operatic songs or with excerpts performances, operatic puppet shows and shadow puppet shows) are accepted not less than 3 months but not more than 7 months in advance of the month of hire.
• Late Booking applications are accepted between 1 and 3 months prior to the month of hire and will only be considered on individual merit subject to operational feasibility.
• Special Booking applications for full-length Cantonese opera and opera excerpt performances are accepted not less than 13 months but not more than 24 months in advance of the month of hire.
• Special Booking applications for other activities including regional opera performances, Chinese opera instrumental performances, Chinese operatic songs or with excerpts performances, operatic puppet shows and shadow puppet shows are accepted not less than 8 months but not more than 24 months in advance of the month of hire.

Minor Facilities : Rehearsal Room/ Practice Room/ Function Room

• Ordinary Booking applications are accepted twice a year in January and July for a maximum period of half-year 6 months in advance. Details are as follows:

  Ordinary Booking Submission Month	Booking Period

  July	January to June of the subsequent year

• Applications received after the Ordinary Booking period are considered as Late Bookings, which will be processed on a first-come-first-served basis.
