1. Ballet: An Excerpt of Inside Out

Created in 2018, Inside Out explores the subtle relationship between the dancers and the barre in ballet training. This is an experiment work that breaks up the traditional form of ballet technique by challenging the traditional use of the barre.

The story takes place during the last days of the Jurchen Jin Dynasty, when its capital, Zhongdu, falls to the invading Mongolian army. A scholar, Jiang Shilong, who is separated from his younger sister, as they flee their home, encounters Ruilan, the daughter of the Minister of War. They fall in love at first sight and share an intimate moment under an umbrella in the rain. Ruilan offers Shilong her gold hairpin as a betrothal gift representing her lifelong devotion to him.

  • Admission by ticket with free seating. Limited places available on a first-come-first-served basis.
  • Tickets will be distributed at the Enquiry Counter of Sha Tin Town Hall from 12 noon on the day of the activity.
  • Each person is allowed up to two tickets for each activity.
  • Reserved places will be allocated to others if the ticket holders fail to show up within 10 minutes after the activities at Cultural Activities Hall and Music Studio have started, or fail to show up within 5 minutes after the activities at Dance Studio have started.
  • Comfortable clothes and shoes are advisable.
  • In the event of any dispute regarding ticket distribution and seating arrangements, the Leisure and Cultural Services Department’s decision shall be final and conclusive.

The presenter reserves the right to change the programmes and substitute artists.
