Description of Bauhinia Arc

Bauhinia ArcWorking with the Bauhinia Arc in the City Art Square is a great challenge and pleasure to Nina Jobs. The bridge will be used and seen by many people. Her first thought was to design a peaceful place for breaks and to be used as a meeting point. The Bauhinia Arc has a surface with surprises and poetic expressions. The design is a sensitive extension of the Bauhinia flower that is performed in a sophisticated colour palette. The flower is dancing up from the root of pillar with its focus at the conjunction between ceiling and pillar. Part of the art piece is inspired by the specially made wind mills from the holy temples that are placed on the bridge as highlighters and those flowers will rotate by themselves. The light is worked out to enhance the design language. This is one of the first international public art pieces in HK which is highly responsive to the environment and culture of the site.
