In celebration of its 30th anniversary, Sha Tin Town Hall took on a new look in 2016. In addition to the facelift, thematic artworks were installed at the grand staircase and Plaza in late July, including a set of artificial turf covered "C.art" and large scale floral decoration. Inspired by handcars on railroads in the old days, these specially designed mobile carts also unfolded the agricultural history of Sha Tin. They could be flexibly assembled into a bigger platform or separately installed at different corners for passers-by to sit down and relax. These patches of green not only conjured up images of farmland, they were also meant to symbolize the changes of Sha Tin over the years as witnessed by the community and the Town Hall. The "C.art" and the floral decoration, together with the 19 creative works of "City Art Square", provided the public with a new art experience, and enhanced the appearance and facilities of public space. The Plaza also served as a versatile open platform for local talents to showcase their art displays. The display of the floral decoration was completed at the end of December 2017. The “C.art” keeps serving the public at the Plaza of Sha Tin Town Hall. The public can sit down and relax on the “C.art” and enjoy the wonderful events held at the Plaza.
