Barrier Free Facilities

 

To strive for a barrier free performing venue, Ko Shan Theatre (KST) and New Wing (NW) is committed to providing equal access for all to ensure that everyone can fully participate and enjoy the arts. We shall pay attention to the needs and limitations of persons with disabilities in using venue facilities and to offer them suitable assistance.

Currently, barrier free facilities and services provided at KST and NW are:

  • Designated car parking space for persons with disabilities
  • A covered escalator and barrier free ramp at the Ko Shan Road Park to connect KST and NW with the Ko Shan Road
  • Visual display board, tactile guide path and braille and tactile floor plan at the ground floor
  • Automatic door at the foyer
  • Service counters suitable for wheelchair users
  • Assistive listening system at the box office, enquiries counter, cloak room, Balcony of Theatre and Auditorium
  • Accessible toilets at each floor of the theatre
  • Braille and tactile markings and audible signal in passenger lift
  • Audio and visual signals of the emergency alarm system
  • Designated spaces convenient for wheelchair users (6 in Theatre and 4 in Auditorium)
  • Accessible toilets at the NW backstage from Basement to 4/F
  • Accessible bathroom and shower compartments at 1/F and 2/F of NW backstage
  • Performance stage of Auditorium is accessible via ramps from the auditorium seating by persons with disabilities
  • Green roof at 3/F of NW is accessible via lift and ramps
  • Tactile fire exit map above the call button of the lift at each floor of the theatre
