Green Roof

Green Roof

Footpath, benches and arbour are provided on the green roof, located on the third floor. The external wall is also partially screened by vertical greening. The whole building, comprising green terraces and a green roof, is blended with nature and provides precious room for interaction with the environment

Sculpture

To match up with the positioning of Ko Shan Theatre as a dedicated venue for Cantonese opera, a pair of sculptures entitled "Unforgettable Memory from Costumes" is displayed at the 1/F of New Wing. Modelled on the forms and patterns of the costumes of Cantonese opera, artist Man Fung-yi weaves together criss-crossing, silver-coloured wires to imply the uniqueness and significance of Chinese opera, or Xiqu, as a part of Chinese intangible cultural heritage.

Cantonese Opera Education and Information Centre

Cantonese Opera Education and Information Centre

To further foster the preservation, education and heritage of Cantonese opera, the Leisure and Cultural Services Department has established at the Ko Shan Theatre New Wing a permanent Cantonese Opera Education and Information Centre. With a floor area of approximately 2 100 square feet, the Centre employs advanced technology, including giant television screens and multimedia projectors, to present digitised, interactive Cantonese opera resources. Its aim is to educate and entertain, promoting history in an enjoyable way. The Centre is open, free to the public in hopes that more students, teachers, teenagers and young artists will gain hands-on exposure to Cantonese opera and in-depth knowledge of the art.
